Thanks Coromandel
I don't remember where I read that info to be honest as it was a while ago
but I'll have a look at that.

The 1911 census ref: RG14PN34980 SN9999 might be worth looking at.

Morning Dean
You have plenty to check out but firstly have a look at the last census.
I'm pretty sure it's your James.

Good afternoon All
update on my thread ,
james william brown b. 6th july 1885 deptford ,kent d. june 1930 new forest hants .
married : march 1913 - st johns sidcup/bromley
catherine stotter b. 1888 greenwich
served in the merchant navy - union castle line as a pantry man .
joined the army WW1 , stating he would rather die on land than be torpedoed !! ,if he had been ,we do not know .
he was in the army at the birth of his daughter 1916 .
the very poor photo we have is possibly RFA or RHA , they lived near woolwich barracks .
he was wounded (shot) in the Hip and invalided out before the end of the war .
he went back to the merchant at some point after the war .
sorry some of this repeats ,but hopefully it might lead to another clue .
