I have a chap who may have emigrated to Australia and married in 1907.
Here follows the information from the Australia Marriage Index 1788-1950:
Name of person - Wm. Hy. Kernick
Spouse Name - Margt. Daisy Healey
Marriage Place - Victoria
Registration Place - Victoria
Registration Year - 1907
Registration Number -4821
My chap's full name was William Henry Kernick, he was born in 1870 and his parents were Richard & Ann formerly Knight.
Any help in determining if this is my bloke would be much appreciated.
Colin

So are we talking about the William Henry that appears on the 1881 UK census in Cornwall b1870 Menheniott. Cornwall.
A railway labourer. Shows mother as Ann as a widow ?

Looks like father Richard's death: Sep qtr. 1875 Liskard 5c 42 (BMD)
We'll have to be a bit careful here Colin as there is another William born the same year in Penzance
so are you sure we are starting with the right one?Last edited by Richard1955; 26-05-2011 at 8:51 PM. Reason: Copyright TNA

So would it be possible that William Henry b1870
married Hannah Paynter Williams in Jun qtr 1892. Redruth 5c 370
as the other William married 1900 in Penzance
Would that be the same Hannah Kernick b1874 that sailed from Liverpool to New York on the Germanic
with her 4 year old son claiming to be married but not travelling with husband. 9th Nov. 1898 (FMP)
William b1870 does not appear on the 1901 or 1911 census
nor on the death registerLast edited by Richard1955; 26-05-2011 at 9:40 PM. Reason: addition

Quite possible, Richard.
William Henry, I cannot find in 1891 census. Richard John, his brother, appears to have been a miner and went to the U.S. in 1890.
Now to see if William Henry went as well. Wonder if he did and came back in 1892 to marry Hannah. A son born in 1894 named Martin Henry could fit.
Off to see what I can find
