Hi,
Read your EM re Cumbria Archive Centre. Do they have a website/ EM address?
I am trying to learn the Mother's name and birth details of a George Freeman who according to his marriage in Aug 1861 was born in Whitehaven, Cumberland about 1830. He gave his age as 32 years when married.
The marriage in Stepney, Middlesex also states his father also named George Freeman was a Clothier by occupation.
The George Freeman born about 1830 was a Seaman, and I've found he and his family in the 1881 Census and him also
on a crew list of a ship "Chimboras" from London arriving Sydney on 15 Aug 1880. He was an AB.
Can you help me at all.
Regards
Clancam

Update. The Registry Office has moved into the same building as the Archives (Lady Gilford House, Petteril Bank Road, Carlisle, CA1 3AJ) and held their first wedding there on Valentines Day 2012.
