I've never come across ASENATH as a surname and neither has FreeBMD

BTW There were nearly 600 occurrences of the forename Asenath (and variants) in the 1881 census. It seems to have been particularly popular in the west country.

No, I do think her name is Asenath. Her baptism is on familysearch beta: Asenath Harriett Shelley, 2/11/1873, Penn, Staff's, parents: John and Harriett.
