    Thanks once again.
1838 John Thomas Truen was my g.g.grandfather and his parents were Peter and Eliza.
I have no idea where to look now for Peter's (married 1838) mother and father.

Just in case, like me, you are curious I found this definition:
Tide Waiter, Customs officer who waited on the (high) tide (when vessels arrived) to collect duty on goods imported.
I found one in a branch of one of my families too.

There is a baptism at St Just in Roseland on the Online Parish Clerks website for Peter Harris Trewen, base child of Ann Trewen, baptised on 31 March 1805. This doesn't fit with the age at death of Peter Truan but is the nearest one I have ever found. (I was contacted by someone about 5 years ago through I think Genes Reunited as I was researching Truran families on the Roseland)

Thanks for the information. I had forgotten all about this post and gave up looking for the parents of Peter choosing instead to follow thechildren of Peter and Eliza. Four of them I have difficulty in finding information.
