    Thumbs up helmet badges

    hi,im researching me 3rd cousins service history,(many thanks to forum members +wyorks archives at wakefield) would any one no if an officer in the 1880s would have had ,a,a helmet with badge/crest or just a cap ,as the only picture i have of my 3rd cousin ,he has a banded cap on,he served in todmorden in the 1890s

    What was his rank? If you are not sure - does the photo show any marking on his sleeve, collar or epaulettes?

    I would expect Constables and Sergeants to be wearing helmets (with a helmet plate) in this period.

    Are you able to post the photo on a web-site (photbucket, flickr) and post the link here?
