    Default Chelsea pensioner lookup

if anyone has access to the new chelsea pensioner records any chance of looking for Charles Mace of the Royal Regiment of Artillery last heard of at Berwick upon Tweed in 1746. I believe the Chelsea pensioners records start at 1760 so i dont know if he will be on but its worth a try.

It's free to search on FMP. WO 97 is also indexed by name for those sort of dates in the National Archives catalogue.

WO 97 isn't a complete listing of all soldiers! Survival of early records wasn't too good!

For the early years you may have more luck in the more specific artillery series at the National Archives (not online). See M & C Watts' book My Ancestor was in the British Army
