I've just been sorting through some census returns and my ancestor William WIGNALL has his occupation etc listed as NAVY in 1841. He is living with his children in Preston (wife seems to be somewhere else that particular night).
Date of birth approximately 1801 and from later census returns his place of birth is shown as Longton, LANCS.
I've tried using the links in the sticky's in this section of the forum but to no avail.
Can anybody tell me how I could search for his service record or information?
Much thanks in advance :-)

Have looked on there, but even if it were him it wouldn't tell me anything about his naval service, which is what i am looking for
