    Smile Basford Brassworks

Hi, I'm looking for information on the company, Sydney Smith & Sons, started in Nottingham in the 1800's by Sydney Smith. I would also like some family information on Sydney Smith, had a daughter, Jane Smith, born about 1787-1879 either in Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire. Jane Smith married William Latham. The Lathams were from Staffordshire. Thanks

    Hello Helen,

It could be worth contacting the Nottinghamshire Archives as, according to their online catalogue, they have "Private research notes and papers concerning the history of Sydney Smith and Sons 1803 - 1996". Their reference to these documents is DD/2521/6/2/9

When looking for company records, the first place to try is the National Register of Archives

There is an entry for Sydney Smith & Sons.

No, I didn't have this information. How did you get information on their children? I believe they had as many as 13.

    thanks,

I have the Latham family tree as far back as Jane Smith and William Latham marrying on 28th September 1808 at Standon, Staffordshire. Jane was born about 1786 in Standon according to census records. What information do you have on Jane's father as I have not been able to trace anything? Thanks
