The witnesses are (in Victoria) Chas C Jones and Martha Gantis (sic). Thank you for the idea. I will try to follow them up and see if that leads anywhere. At the time of the wedding, William Henry claims to be a confectioner residing at 21 Fitzroy St and Maria lives 2 doors down at 17 Fitzroy St. They were married by banns at St Peters Anglican Church, Melbourne, and she had the written consent of her father George. He states age as 21 and she 17. Marriage date is 13 May 1867, Vic Reg 1303; Bourke Register 1657.

    Hi Robin

A pity really, FG was a nice looking chap. In my travels I came across one Frederick who died in gaol described as "old and in bad health" and another who kept committing forgery so he could go back to gaol as his eyesight was failing and he had no means of support. He'd been doing this for 17 yrs! I wonder if it was the same one.... anyway if you want to put them on your list let me know and I'll find the details.
