Harry may have been in a civliian government occupation during the war, and have been exempted from active service.

This marrriage certificate arrived today just as I got home from eye spec'st. Hooray no more waiting, DARN ! because it shows he's not my Harry.

This chap & his Father 'John' were warehousemen in a cotton mill.

I wonder if I'll ever find word of him again? 'twould be so nice to continue with that Family along-side the one here in Australia.

Do you know his date of birth, or just year?

Documentsonline includes RN seamen, RN Officers, RNR, RM and RND records. Included in the information provided when searching (free) are dates of birth. Are there any Harry/Henry MITCHELLs whose date of birth match your known Harry MITCHELL. This may at least act as a means of elimination.

No Geoffers, I don't have his birth cert. have just followed his life via censuses & such items as Adels' in # 9. Had too many other folk on the go down souther at the time who took first place in searches.

Have loooked into several Military chaps but all seem to be dismissable by birth place or Parents mentioned or even birth date (not that they are always gospel). I did hold hope for sea-time as it's in the Family. Perhaps he's there somewhere in a civil role. One day.......?

Hope my cert. from Glamorgan has better news, didn't arrive with Harrys', must be in a deeper box.
