This is what I do:
(1) register at www.photobucket.com (it's free).
(2) upload your photo to the site.
(3) once it's uploaded, you'll see 4 little boxes underneath.
(4) click in the bottom box (which auto-copies the link into your clipboard)
(5) paste (Ctrl+v) into your forum posting.
Voila!

If you don't see the four boxes that Mary mentions, click on Customise Links and make sure the box that says 'IMG Code for Forums and Bulletin Boards' is checked.
Update: Things have changed a bit since Photobucket 'upgraded' their site.
What you need to copy is still IMG Code for Forums and Bulletin Boards'. If this is not showing below the thumbnail picture, double click on the picture to enlarge it. If the IMG Code is still not showing, click on Link Options and make sure that the box is ticked for 'IMG for Forums and Bulletin Boards' - this is the code you need to copy into your B-G posting.
If you still can't find the Link Options (and admittedly since 'updating' the site recently it appears less user friendly in this regard) then go to My Home, then Account Options and follow Album Settings and then Link Options.Last edited by Sue Mackay; 09-04-2010 at 1:14 PM. Reason: Update

This thread is now largely redundant since it is now possible to upload pictures directly into your posts
See here for a detailed set of instructions on how to do this.
I have left this thread visible in case anyone needs help with deciphering a larger letter or will, where the forum size might be too small. In such cases it might be better to remove the [IMG] tags and simply post a link to the document, rather than having a very large picture appear in your post.Sue Mackay

Be aware that Photobucket have changed their terms and conditions and so you will need to find another site if posting a link to a large document. See this thread
