Hello everyone,
I am trying to locate LILLY DAVIS on the 1911 Census. I did a search and found the following info but I don't have a subscription. I would so appreciate it if someone could give me any further info from the census.
LILLY DAVIS, born about 1892, aged 19, Salford, Lancashire
Thanks!
Sue

Thank you Sue
Thank you for such a quick reply! I'm afraid it is not the family I am looking for. However, there are some really close similarities so I am not going to write this family off just yet! More research to do I guess
Thank you again Sue!

There is another Lily Davis age 18 b 1893 Higher Broughton Lancashire living with siblings & widowed mother Julia at 36 Norton Street, Broughton Salford. There are 3 Lillian Davies living in Salford [per index], so, yes, give us a clue about parents or siblings.

More info - LILLY DAVIS
Thank you everyone for replying so quickly! Here is some further info on the Lilly DAVIS I am trying to find.
Lilly DAVIS was born Charlotte Lillie DAVIS (born about 1891 in Irlams O' Th' Height, close to Salford, in Lancashire) but in previous census has gone by Lillie (1891) and Lilly (1901).
1891 Census - Ardwick, Manchester, Lancashire
242 Hyde Road, (shop)
Joshua DAVIS, Head, age 36, Plumber, Birmingham
Hellene DAVIS, Wife, 38, Germany
Harry DAVIS, Son, 11, scholar, Manchester
Florence DAVIS, Daughter, 9, Manchester
Hermann DAVIS, Son, 4, Congleton, Cheshire
Lillie DAVIS, Daughter, 1 month, Manchester
1901 Census -
21 Craig Street, Ardwick, Manchester
Joshua DAVIS, married, head, 47, born Warwick Birmingham, Plumber
Helene DAVIS, married, wife, 50, born Germany
Florence DAVIS, single, daughter, 19, born Lancs Manchester, Embroideress
Hermann DAVIS, 14, Son, born Chesire, Congleton, Pattern Card maker
Lilly DAVIS, 10, daughter, born Lancs Irlam O Th Heights
It is of course possible that Lilly had married by 1911 and was no longer a DAVIS but some older family members state that it was only in 1913 that she married.
Thanks again!

Actually, it was the right one, but wrong family!
I've been looking for the rest of the family, but haven't found any of them (yet)...
I even did an address search on "21 Craig Street", but either it doesn't exist anymore, or it was empty...
(20 Craig Street and 22 Craig Street exist, and the indexes don't seem to indicate that "21 Craig Street" is missing)
Hmmm... Will keep on looking...
Cheers,
Nick

21 Craig Street (DAVIS family)
Nick, you are right - there is some 'problem' with Craig Street. I remember when I was searching for this DAVIS family in 1901 I had some issues with finding them at that address. Information from the 1895 Manchester Post Office Directory lists Joshua Davis, plumber, at 21 Craig Street, Devonshire Street, Ardwick. The info that I received from a very helpful researcher at the time said that Craig street was a small street falling between 2 and 6 Devonshire Street. (Devonshire St crosses Hyde Road where St. Matthew's church is on one side and Nicholls Hospital on the other.)
The 1913 Street Index of Manchester has no DAVIS living at 21 Craig Street. I'm hoping they were still there in 1911 but it is not seeming like it!
Thanks for checking for me!
