    Default Ship's Barometer

    Folks,
i have in my possession (eventually) a brass cased aneroid barometer manufactured by Kilpatrick & Co London, dated 1804.
I have Googled the manufacturer without success; i am hoping someone may have come across this company in their research.
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Hello Eric

I can't help directly but you could try Barometer Makers and Retailers 1660-1900 by Edwin Banfield, Baros Books, ISBN 978-0-948382-06-2
This book is an alphabetical list of over 4,000 barometer makers and retailers who were active in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland from the time of the earliest domestic instruments up to 1900. The list includes working or estimated working dates, business addresses where known and other activities engaged in by makers. Other information given includes unusual styles of instruments made or handled, the relationship between some makers, their achievements and other items of interest.
The company publishes a number of barometer-related books that might be of interest

    Good luck with your search

    Colin
