    Default John Mullins

Hello and Merry Christmas to all!

My 4th great grandfather was John Mullins. Other than dates of birth, marriage and death, I have not bee able to track him back further.

    DOB 7/3/1794 Bixton, Surrey, England
Marriage: 2/15/1822, St. Peter's Parish, Chester, England to Rachael Willoughby (DOB 8/4/1801 Manchester, England, DOD 9/9/1881, Lambeth, england)
    DOD 11/22/1880, Lambeth England

He was supposedly and architect a was his son Willoughby Mullins. The family, at least at the time of Willoughby was fairly well to do but family lore says they fell on hard times and Willoughby sent his 2 sons, Willoughby Jr. and John Howard to the U.S, to find work.

If anyone has any information regarding this family, I would really appreciate the assistance.

As the data you have matches 100% with the IGI I would think that it is your source.

Unfrtunately these are all LDS member submitted entries and as such, may prove unreliable.

You say you have John and Willougby on the 1841 census
What about the 1851,1861 and 1871 censuses

The 1841 only gave an answer to 'born in county' whereas the later censuses would have details of his place of birth.

    1871 census
Mullins John born 1795 in Newington residing Lambeth, Kennington First
Mullins Rachel born 1802 in Islingon residing Lambeth, Kennington First

Brixton is not so far from Lambeth but Lambeth is between Brixton and Newington

    Deaths Dec 1880
    Mullins John 85 Lambeth 1d 293
    Deaths Sep 1881
    Mullins Rachel 80 Lambeth 1d 305

This may not be your family but it is does look like the death claimed on the IGI submitted records. Difference, these are not assumptions. Nothing here to suggest any move to anywhere but the Lambeth area. Probably not yours but it needs more work and I out of time right now.

    Will try another look tomorrow
