I'm hoping someone can help me with a bit of
information on my Great Uncle Bertam.
All I know is:

If you go to the CWGC website (www.cwgc.org), there is an entry for B.E.O. Bond there, which I suspect may be your chap.
To be certain, do you have any other info - e.g regiment or a service number?

Hi Heather,
www.cwgc.org will give you details of his rank and regiment in the war, and also his date of death and place of burial.
If you click on the cemetery name, you are given details about the cemetery. Underneath the 'details' box are further links to other casualties buried in the cemetery, plans, and photos.
As you know he's an uncle, do we assume that you have his parents' names, and that you have him (and them) on the census?
Pam
After reading Mark's reply, I have slapped my wrist for assuming that there is only one Bertram E O Bond. Though it is a very distinctive name and set of initials, I should know better.Last edited by Pam Downes; 20-11-2009 at 2:45 PM. Reason: Added a final sentence.

The 'Sldeirs died in the Great War database' includes an entry for Bertram Ernest Owen BOND L/Cpl 17th Battalion Royal Fusliers (City of London Regt) born Woking, died of wounds Aug 1916. This seems to match the entry on the CWGC web-site found by Mark and Pam.
Surviving service records from WW1 are available online on the pay-per-view site 'ancestry'.
A medal card for him can be downloaded from TNA's documentsonline

Don't put in Bertram - just put in Bond and the initial B.
Fifth entry out of six.
