I would be delighted if someone can throw some light on to the birth of my gggrandfather said to be born in Chesterfield c1805. This birth may have been recorded in the name of William GREAVES.

My William GREGORY married Ann GOODWIN in Manchester in 1828 as per PR's. William GREAVES alias GREGORY was convicted at the Derby Assizes on 23 Mar 1833 for housebreaking at Tupton Hall and sentenced to transportation for seven years.

William GREGORY married Sarah NICHOLSON in Sydney in 1838 and died on 21 July 1893 at which time his son stated that he had married an Elizabeth GOODWIN prior to his marriage to Sarah.

Did both men come to Australia or are they the one and the same? Just one of the mysteries I am trying to solve. Any help would be appreciated.
