    Default London street descriptions

Does anyone know if there are any publications that gave a description of London streets from early 1800's?

Something along the lines of Booth's poverty maps but earlier in date.

Well, there is this, if you want to go really back in time......but you might also find this to be of interest.

You might find Tower Hamlets History Online of interest. An enormous site, covering a wide range of dates.

If you want an expensive Christmas present then John Tallis's London Street Views 1838-1840, published by the London Topographical Society might be of interest. They also publish a number of London A to Zs for different periods.

Yet another reason for the questioner to visit the London Metropolitan Archives! Feeding the phrase London Street Views into the LMA OPAC throws up plenty of catalogue entries that may be of interest.

The City of London general library catalogue also has an entry for the publication (it's at the Guildhall Library)
