Default Help with marriage in 1897 please

    Can you help me please?
I have found a marriage for Louisa Georgina Whitehead in 1897 in Woolwich.
There are four husbands to choose from.
Would it be possible to look her up in the Parish Records to see which one she married?

    Help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Hello Procat, ....... what a dummy I am!!!
I put her name in Freebmd for "ALL" and mistook her birth date for marriage date.I will have to start again.
I am so sorry for taking up your time in looking for me.

    Many thanks.

The 1930 Louisa G Whitehead in 1930 is the niece of the one I am looking for.

The other one born in 1874 was in an orphanage with her brother David in 1881, most of her family apart from her parents, who had died, are in Woolwich at that time.
So really I dont know where to look for her,I was just hoping she returned to Woolwich to marry after leaving the orphanage.

    Thanks once again

A check on Ancestry which claims to have the marriages fully indexed only found the 1930 marriage for a Louisa G Whitehead.

It is possible that she did not use her middle name when she married of course. Or that she married under an adopted parents surname?

It very kind of you Procat to look for me in the records.

As you say she maybe used a different name or perhaps even died.

Something may turn up some time, but until then,I am stuck.

    Thank you

Hello Maggiemac, I've lost the thread a bit, please can you say exactly what you are looking for?

In 1901 a Louisa Whitehead born in 1897 in Woolwich is living at 24 St. Mary Street, Woolwich. She is the niece of William and Maria Young.

William, age 47 1854, General Labourer, born Woolwich
Maria, age 43 1858 born Ireland
SLATER, Frederick, Nephew, Single age 34 1867, General Labourer
    born Devonport
WHITEHEAD, Louisa, Niece, age 4 1897, Woolwich

In 1911 they are all still at the same address.
William H and Maria have been married for 30 years and William is now a Painter. Louisa and Frederick have just aged by 10 years.

Also with them is Elizabeth Whitehead, a niece age 16 who is a general domestic servant and she was born in Aldershot in 1895.

I have just noticed that Maria was born in Ballingcolly Cork.

So if Louisa is 14 are we looking for a marriage about 1921?

Hello again Mutley, thank you for the information on Louisa Whitehead, she does belong to the same family...but a bit later on.

The Louisa Georgina Whitehead that I am looking for was born in 1874 in Woolwich and was orphaned by the time of the 1881 census.
From the orphanage she was in.... she was sent (1879) to a school in Withern, from then I can find no trace of her.
I have had a lady look in records for me in London with no luck.

I am begining to think she could be in hiding with your "JAMES"

Thanks again, your help it much appreciated.
