Default CANT FIND THESE STREETS IN LONDON!!

I have been on the MAPCO site, looking at London street maps and I can't seem to track down these four streets.

    Martha St. Haggerstone East,1853
Princes Court, Bethnal Green, (Town sub registration district) 1862
Champion Yard, Haggerstone West (off Essex St) 1851
Mitchell Street, Holborn, (City Road sub registration district) 1877

If you could locate them, please advise which map you found them on.

Many thanks for anyone who can help

Princes Court is now Padbury Court E2

Martha Street and Mitchell Street still exist.

    See StreetMap for these.

The Martha Street on Streetmap is in St George in the East, and is not the one you want.

Martha Street in Haggerstone East is a very narrow street abutting the canal, just west of Queens(bridge) Road and parallel to it.

Go to Mapco, Cross's Plan of 1850, square called Kingsland, Hoxton and Shoreditch, halfway down and about halfway across, and you'll see Martha Street as a narrow lane running down to the canal, between Queens Road and Stone Bridge. When you've found it, you can click the square to enlarge.

Sorry I can't post an extract, for copyright reasons.

It's now no longer there. Look for Denne Terrace E8, for the equivalent location on Google maps.

I believe the Essex Street that is now called Bocking Street is in Hackney.

The Essex Street that you're after runs west/east between Hoxton Road and Kingsland Road, and is now Shenfield Street N1. This is in a section of Haggerstone that bulges westwards into Hoxton.

Same square on Cross's Plan of 1850, south-west of where you were before, just below the ...TON of HOXTON. According to the enumerator's description page in 1851, Champion Yard was one of the courts off Essex Street, though I can't see it marked as such

Ooh ooh! My great-great-great-grandparents lived in Martha Street Haggerstone East in 1841 and 1851 and then the family moved to Clarence Place, just down the road.

Rocket118 - may I ask the full address of your people? Perhaps they lived next door to mine.
