I have recently discovered from the 1881 census that a sister of my gr.great grandfather was a resident at St. Joseph's Home - run by the Little Sisters of the Poor - at Westbury on Trym, then in Gloucestershire.

I am hoping that eventually I can find out when this great-great aunt arrived there from where and when she left - she died in Exeter in 1887.

My first concern is trying to find out is when this home for the elderly closed its doors at that location and what happened to the building as the present day equivalent is still called St.Joseph's Home and still run by the same order but now at Cotham Hill, Bristol roughly 1½ miles south of the original.

Whilst I can make contact by telephione - there is no direct e-mail address - I thought I'd try to see if any B-G lurker knew anything.

Any clues gratefully received
