Default help tracing death index in 1948

I'm trying to trace the death index of Annie Richards who I'm told died on 4 July 1948 (location unsure, but possibly Scunthorpe). Several free BMD searches have revealled nothing. Can anyone please help pinpoint this death index inorder to persue the death certificate.

    Thankyou in advance.

    Annie RICHARDS aged 87
    September quarter 1948
    Scunthorpe RD
    Volume 3b page 283

PS There were a couple of other Annies in the same quarter if the age doesn't fit, but as you had mentioned Scunthorpe this seemed the most likely.

Thanks Sue, I'm told she was 87 years when she died. Much appreciated. Incidently, where do you make your searches?

Bearing in mind that you knew the details, you could have checked the images on FreeBMD.
If you click on View Images, then enter the details via the drop down menus, you would be able to find that death. It gets harder when you have no idea about dates - then it is a lengthy trawl.

I suspect Sue used a subscription to a site which has the BMD index up to a more recent period than FreeBMD is currently.

I have a subscription to FindMyPast. FreeBMD hasn't got as far as 1948, so it's a question of trawling through the actual GRO pages, but in this case you had an exact date of death so the search was easy.
