Have you had any luck? Is it possible she was sent to Canada as a "Home Child" as my great grandfather was in 1905?

Hi all
My Grandmothers children spent time in the Newport union workhouse, (St woolos Hospital now) about 1902 to 1906, they were moved to and fro from here to "The beeches" a childrens home on Chepstow road Newport, and Long Ashton Union in Bristol, they eventually were sent as "British Home Children" to Canada, between 1906 and 1911, the records office at Cwmbran holds some records ( I have seen them myself) about the union which could be of help, my family surname were Butcher, and I am still researching.
