Hello all,
Just jumping in here with my first post, outside of the introduction thread. Here goes!
I know this is a long shot, but I've been researching my great-grandfather Henry BURKE, who was a 'foreman tailor' in Cork, according to the 1911 census. I've looked up the old business directory for the time, and found a list of tailors from back then, although none are named BURKE. My aunt had been sure that it was his own factory, yet 'foreman tailor' suggests that perhaps he was the manager and not the owner. I realise there has been another previous thread about the term 'foreman tailor' so sorry for opening this up again! But I'm coupling my queries about the term, with the hope that someone else may have info or tailors from Cork. Perhaps there is another source of info on Irish businesses that I have not yet come across.
Thanks!
