Couple of years ago found this:
Upwell St Peter, Norfolk Burial Register:
15 Mar 1887 William Pollington of Wisbech Union. Aged 74.
Wisbech Workhouse Death Records:
William Pollington aged 74 of Upwell, buried 15 Mar 1887.
All the Upwell Pollingtons are related to me but neither I nor a relative in America can work out who this William is!
An 1887 death puts a birth about 1813. The only census match is an 1811 birth in Kent - but he appears to have died in 1871 aged 61.
Any ideas where our mystery man might have come from?
Thanks
Mitch.

Hi Mitch, you may already have this but William is shown on the 1871 Census aged 60 Pauper born Groombridge Kent, he is a resident in the Tonbridge Union Workhouse.
Hope this helps, I will keep lokking for you though!!
Best Regards

Have just spotted he appears to be with his wife Elizabeth(possibly) aged 43, and a child Annie aged 15.
Best regards

Hi Keyboard86,
Thanks for that - and yes definitely rules out the Kent man.
I now believe my William Pollington might be the son of William Pollonton(sic) and Sarah Markwell who married at Tydd St Mary Lincolnshire in 1804.
This couple are probably those that have two children baptised at Welney, Cambridgeshire in 1815 & 1816 - Frances & WILLIAM. Though it doesn`t quite match his death age I believe its probably him.
But I still can`t find him on any census! Mystery!
Thanks again
Mitch.
PS Incidentally William (Senior) born 1779 Rockland Norfolk is resident at Upwell Norfolk on the 1841 & 1851 census and is buried there in 1853 - thought I`d find his son somewhere in the Fens too - but no joy yet.
