Hi
I'm having trouble locating the correct death cert for my Gt Gt Grandmother Eliza Adelaide Wilks nee Clarke
Born 02/04/1865 Chapel Street Stratford, I have found the following info
Census 1871, 34 Church Road Wandsworth
Census 1881, 11 Sadlers Cottage, Wandsworth
Marriage 30/11/1884 Alfred Wilks
Census 1891, 75 Summers Town, Wandworth, Alfred 32, Eliza 27, Sarah9, Charles 6, Emily 1
Census, 1901, 25 Dartford Road Dartford, Alfred42, Eliza 37, Charles 17, Emily 12, Joe 4, Jessie 1, William 10mths
However I have had two incorrect attempts at her death -
Eliza Wilks Dec 1909 Streatham
Eliza A Wilks Feb 1928 Dulwich
Can anyone give me any pointers?
Many Thanks
Lise

What do you know of this family ?
The search engine on the 1911 census always strikes me as dodgy but I cannot find any of them.
I cannot find a death for either Alfred or Eliza
Did they emigrate springs to mind. Hence my question. Is this a moving forward look at a family branch or a direct line back.

Eliza Wilks
Hi,
The family is a direct line back, Sarah - Eliza's daughter - is my Gt Grandmother.
Have been able to trace the family another two generations back. The family were all silk painters by the name of Clarke, all living in the Wandsworth / Hackney area.
No emigration was mentioned by Sarah, whilst she was alive, however it could be possible.

SO the family name Clarke, the silk painters are Eliza Clarkes family.
She married Alfred Wilks and your Sarah was their eldest.
I assume Sarah married very young but I cannot find a suitable record.
By 1901 she has either left home or married.
Certainly the family have decamped to Dartford in Kent presumably leaving Sarah back in the Wandsworth area. Did she just leave home suggesting a rift in the family.
What did Alfred do for a living ?
Can anyone find them on the 1911 census.
Can anyone find them emigrating

1901 census names in 1911
Hi
Could Jessie be Jessie V in 1911 census in Dartford bn 1900?
There's a Charles W 26yrs also Eliza 48yrs, Joseph 14, no Emily possibly married by 1911?
Eliza's age should help with looking for death.
Could be worth spending 10 credits to have a look in 1911.
Good luck with your search

Well done GeorgieP
I just searched for Jessie Wilks b 1900 on the 1900 census
Using the advanced search
With William Wilks - Ok
With Joe Wilks - Ok
With Eliza Wilks - Ok
With Alfred Wilks - failed
This does look like your family I would suggest it is worthwhile buying some credits to look at this.

Eliza wilks
Many Thanks for your help so far
Yes my Gt grandmother married very young, 26/12/1898 (17years old) and went on to have 12 children.
I know that Alfred Wilks was also a silk printer, maybe they met through Eliza's father Eldred Clarke a silk printer too.
A family rift was never mentioned, however I know from Sarahs birth cert (1881) that she was born before Alfred and Eliza were married and the father is listed as unknown. From the census 1891 Sarah is being bought up by both Alfred and Eliza.
Its still the death of Eliza that eludes me

The 1911 census can prove whether she was still alive and where she was.
If Alfred is missing perhaps died then she possibly re-married.
The entry GeorgieP found looks like it could just establish her status in 1911
