    Question 1871 census Bounds Green

Can anyone tell me if the 1871 census covered Bounds Green, & if so, what is the reference? Also Edmonton, when does that appear on the census? Do they come under Shoreditch? I have searched the street index for that but no luck. TIA

You need to search the National Archives website, under their catalogue collection select Procat and then search. Enter the name, put the year in both boxes and enter the census reference, e.g. RG 10 for 1871.

I searched for Edmonton (web address) https://www.catalogue.nationalarchive....y=0&image1=GO

    and got:
RG 10/1341 More information Registration Sub-District 3A Edmonton Civil Parish, Township or Place: Edmonton (8): Marsh Side, Snells Park, Tanners End, Colney Hatch (pt) (Divided between RG 10/1334 & 1342) (5) 1871

RG 10/1342 More informationRegistration Sub-District 3B Edmonton Civil Parish, Township or Place: Edmonton (3): Colney Hatch (pt) (Divided between RG 10/1334 & 1342) (5), Palmers Green, Winchmoor Hill, Barrow Well Green, Bourne Hill, Highfield, Southgate, Chaseside (pt) (Divided between RG 10/1342-1344) 1871

There was no trace on Bounds Green, so search on an adjoining place name until you find it.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Unhappy 1871 census Bounds Green

Thank you both! I had a sinking feeling but needed to make sure it wasn't under another name. I have the London census here but keep finding people have moved out of range....sigh..

    Hi Steve

I tried to replicate what you did but could only reach a listing which said 1871 census held at Family Record Centre, what am I doing wrong?

What Steve suggested was entering Edmonton, 1871, 1871, RG 10 in the relevant boxes.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. In fact it does work. Note it's RG 10 not RG10.

Thanks Peter it was the last part separating the RG from the 10. Part of my postcode is RG10!!!
