I am trying to find the exact dates of employment of the Personal Private Secretaries of the Lord Mayor of London between 1944-1956.
Up to now I have had no luck so must assume my search criteria is all wrong. I know one of them, a long-gone relative had the position but do not know the exact dates.
If any one knows how to access this info or knows of a site that gives, I would be most grateful.
Dave

Hi Dave,
You could go to the top and write to the Lord Mayor's office, perhaps?
Their contact details have the following statement:
The Public Liaison Unit (PLU) deals with all enquiries and correspondence on behalf of the Mayor. Any enquiry or request requiring a written response or detailed information should be made in writing to ensure full and accurate response. Exceptions will be made if the enquiry or request is from someone with a disability, which make its difficult for them to write.
Contact the Public Liaison Unit at:
Greater London Authority
City Hall
The Queen's Walk
More London
London SE1 2AA
Good luck!

Perhaps write to the Lord Mayor's office at Mansion House?
(Jan, I think those contact details are for the Mayor of London, i.e. Boris -- not the same official as the Lord Mayor of London, who presides in the City )

Thank you all for your replies. Message sent direct to Mansion House.
