Mcnally - Ireland records

Hello, I need some help I am trying to trace my ancestors from Ireland. The problem being I am not sure where they come from. Could anyone tell me the best place to start. I have done general searches but nothing seems to come up for them.

Samuel Mcnally born 1801
wife Johanna

I can find them in England in 1841 but that is it?

Also, there is the Ulster Historical Foundation - have a look at what they have to offer.

Meanwhile, a peruse of the reference books available from Flyleaf Press may give you some ideas. I have a branch of the family who came from Dublin and the book that I obtained from them has been invaluable - pointing me to resources that I did not know existed.
