Looking for Birth details of Daniel Mc Loughlin , born around1853 . Ihave applied to B, Ham reg office for a cert , but they have no record of him.
I have his Marriage cert, dated April 1875. His Fathers' name was James.

    Births Jun 1855
    McLoughlin Daniel Liverpool 8b 35

This is the only one I could find on Freebmd
If it is yours it rather explains why Birmingham could not find him

    Default Daniel MCLOUGHLIN

Not sure the birth registration in Liverpool is the correct one as there is a family of McLOUGHLINs in Liverpool in the 1851 census, i.e. Bryan, wife Catherine and children Owen & Ellen. This family look too different to be your family of MCLOUGHLINs who are in the 1861 census of Birmingham. Could they still have been in Ireland in the 1851 census as elder son John was born c1843 in Ireland according to the 1861 census records.

I have just re-read your message and it occurred to me you may not have the census details. In case not here they are:

    1861 census of Ladywood Birmingham
    RG9/2128, folios 35/6, pages 12/13
Sheepcote St, 3 Ct (court) 4 Ho (house)

James MCLOUGHLIN Head Mar 50 Tobacco Pipe Maker Ireland
Catherine do Wife Mar 46 do
John C do Son Un 18 Blacksmith do
Danl do Son 8 Scholar Warwick Birmingham
John QUINN Nephew Un 28 Tobacco Pipe Maker Ireland

The next record down is a Bernard QUINN, wife Mary, children Margaret & Catherine all born Ireland and he is a Tobacco Pipe Maker also - could Mary have been the sister of either James or his wife Catherine?

It looks as if their surname has been enumerated as McCOMMON in the 1871 census of Birmingham (RG10/3101, folio 5, page 4) and that James has died as Catherine is shown as a widow with an additional son William aged 15 born Birmingham.

Thanks Jan, that info seems very interesting. I will try to follow it up.
