    Hi Elly

Thanks very much another peice in the jigsaw in more ways than one! Charles Taylor's family has increased by 2 but lost one member which I suspected, this has reduced the period I need to look at for the death. Taylor is quite a difficult name to search under when you only have a limited amount of detail.

The second Taylor family you listed living next door is the brother of Charles.

    Again many thanks.

Alice M. Taylor Daur S 15 Tie Hand (Hab) London Hackney

    Hiya!
Anyone know what a Tie Hand is? Perhaps selling ties in a (Hab)erdasher?
I only ask as I have one somewhere amongst my lot!
    Many Ta's!

Don't know precisely what this term means. Alice was still alive when I was a young child and lived my grandparents. Crippled with Arthritis most of her life she continued to make embroidery until she could no longer grip the work.

I suspect that "Tie Hand" was literally that, that she made ties by hand rather than using a machine. I remember that people were still making tie by hand until quite recently and may still be done today.
