    1851 - H0107 2190 60 46

John's parent's, William and Mary are at her Mother's house on the night of the 1851 census. William is shown as head of house and Mary's Mother as "Mother-in-Law"

There are no children with them though!

    William b 1808, Huyton - Bricklayer!
    Mary b 1810, Liverpool
    Elizabeth b 1770, Manchester - Lady

They are living at 6 Devonshire Place - I don't know what this was like in 1851 but the people next door were living on their own means so I doubt it was a poor area.

In the 1861 census you will note that William is called a "House Owner" - Seem that Ma Mercer left them the house!

Will look at 1841 out of interest and see if I can spot John.

Looks like this is a possible:

    1851 HO107 2163 88 5

    19 Rush Green, Lymn, Cheshire

Looks like a small private boys school to me although there is no name give. All the boys 9 -13 are described as scholars.

The Head of household is James Thomas Drake so you may be able to find him online in an historical index.

John Hunter is shown as born 1838 in Liverpool.
