    Default Born in France

My GGGrandfather was born in France 1815 and i would love to get his birth certificate. His name was John Power Clarke.
I am no good at wars i'm afraid but his father (same name) was in the 7th Hussars so maybe he was in France with his wife Eleanor when the baby was born. They came from Ireland and of course a lot of records have been lost.
Has anyone got any ideas of what i can do?

    Smile Birth in France

Is John Power Clarke (born 1815) on any of the Censuses with a birth place other than just "France"?

To be able to look for someone born in France, you need to know in which town they were born. Then you simply write to the Town Hall and ask for a copy of the birth certificate which is free. Smaller Town Halls ask for an sae, but the bigger ones don't.

Have you searched the military indexes (Army Chaplains' and Regimental Birth Indexes) available on findmypast?
