For anyone with Dorset connections, you may already have seen this but it is new to me, a fully searchable book -
"The Poll Book of the Dorset County Election of 1857 was printed and published by The Dorset County Chronicle in that year. It lists all voters qualified to vote in that election by voting district. It gives both their place of residence and qualification."

At this stage I have not checked as to who was qualified (or not qualified) to vote (apart from females of course) but it seems another handy little tool for possibly confirming where some people may have between the census. It's nothing like the census of course but could be of help to someone.
