Hi I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help. My great x 2 grandfather was born 1827 in Croydon cum Clopton Cambridgeshire. His name was John Nelson. John's mother was Biddy (Bridget) and she later became Biddy Hagger. I have not been able to find any record of Johns father who appears to have died somewhere is the early 1830's. I have John's military records from the 43rd Light Infantry and it does not show his fathers name and I have Johns marriage record which likewise does not give the fathers name. My only hope of tracing who the father was is through John's sister Kitty. Kitty was born about 1832 and in 1841 is listed in the census as Kitty Hagger in Croydon cum Clopton. I think she shows up in the 1851 census as living in the Caxton work house under the name of Catherine Nelson. After that I lose track of Kitty. Does anyone have any advice. Thanks
