    Hi Sheena
Names were often used again if the first named died .. and sometimes for two living children, named for grandparents on either side of the family.
The family are continuous throught the census:
    1861, Strathy Point, Sutherland
William McKay head, crofter and fisher 27 Reay, Caithness [NB this is OK]
    Lexy wife 23 Strathy
    Hugh son 4 Strathy
    James son 2 Strathy
    Angus son 2months Strathy
Christina Grant grandmother 80 Lairg, Sutherland

    1871, Lotter’s House, Strathy, Sutherland

William McKay head, fisherman 37 Portskerra, Sutherland
    Lexy wife 33 Strathy
    Hugh 13 Strathy
    Angus 9 Strathy
    George 7 Strathy
    Christy 3 Strathy
    Elizabeth 5months

    1881, Strathy Point, Farr, Sutherland
William Mackay head, lottar 48 Port Skerra, Sutherland
    Alexanderina wife 44 Strathy Point
    Christina 13 Strathy Point
    Williamina 9 Strathy Point
    Hugh W. 4 Strathy Point
    John 2 Strathy Point
    James J. 6months Strathy Point

    1891 Strathy Point, Sutherland

William McKay head, fisherman 55 Strathy
    Alexandrina wife 52 Strathy
    Williamina daur., servant18 Strathy
Hugh son, to be employed 16 Strathy
    John son 12 Strathy
    James son 10 Strathy
    Janet daur 8 Strathy

    1901, Strathy Point, Sutherland
William McKay head, crofter 65 Farr, Sutherland
    Alexanderina wife 60 Farr
Hugh W. son, fisherman 24 Farr
    Angus grandson 6 Farr

Lexie's mother was Lugia/Luiza/Eliza[seen all three]
Probably "Lugia" is a mis-reading of Luzia. Often also seen as Lucy.
