Thanks for the reply Lesley.
We have a photo of a young man, with what is very likely his father and brother. He is wearing a WWII army uniform. We know of two POW's who died in captivity but don't know if any other in the extended family were in the Army.

Hi Lesley. CWGC list only two "Chaboyer" in WWII. Both of which are well documented elsewhere and of whom we have photographs.

That would be David & Marcel. What about John & George, as isted here https://members.aol.com/aboriginalvets/east.htm?
Why do you think he's another Chaboyer?

Hi Lesley. All the Chaboyers are traceable back to common ancestors born about 1800 - 1810. George and John are from a different line of the family and are out of Ontario. They are also full native Ojibway, rather than mixed race Metis.
It is likely that the two boys are Roy and Ray Chaboyer, the problem being which is which.
If we could find out if they were both in the Army, and when they enlisted, we may know which is which in the photo and from there have an idea of who is with them in other photos.
If only people would write on the back of photos.... grrrrrrrr..
Thank you for your interest, it is very much appreciated.

At least we may know where to look next.
Archives Canada. Ottawa.
Fonds consists of information cards created by the Canadian Army Historical Section and regarding information of Canadians who served with various regiments during the Second World War, those Canadians that were Mentioned in Dispatches, and those Canadians that were awarded various medal and decorations. The cards contain such information as name, service number, dates, fate of soldier, honours, awards, decorations, and medals. The cards are arranged alphabetically. There are three series: I. Second World War Soldier Information Cards (1939-1945) II. Army Mentions in Despatches and US Distinguished Unit Emblem (1956-1962) III. Medals and Decorations (1902-1967)

Has anyone a link / name / e-mail or anything that they can recommend in order to find a record for a Canadian soldier of WWII.
I have his service #, Surname. Initials, Rank , address where he lived when he came back from the East, (probably Korea) in 1945.
I am 99.9% sure I know who it is.... but as this is a key figure in another piece of research, I really need to know that it was him.
