If you start with the National Archives "Looking for a Person?" page, you'll soon find the answer
https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...%5Cdefault.htm
You need to choose the "British Army Soldiers after 1913" option.

You may also find this guide to WW1 Army ancestry to be useful as well as this guide to WW2 sources.

Hi thanks for that, its just the not knowing where to start TNA has what i have already the problem i seem to have is the spelling. There names are always spelt wrong even on the medal cards of two of them , there names crossed out re-written and still spelt wrong i try using p* as a wildcard doesnt always work.
My first Soldier Abraham james Preou born 1895 on his medal card says proeu its on ancestry as Abraham james proes badge no/ 251040 Reg no/202724 regiment 1st london reg 10th dec 1915- 13th oct 1917. (Wounded). I'd love to find out where he went what he did and how he was injured is it possible to find anything else out apart from his number, medals and regiment .

It helps to get the best answer if you explain exactly how far you've got and what you've already found.
You now seem to be saying that you have found Abraham james Preou's papers on Ancestry. They are in series WO 364 (pension claims).
Have you read the documents on Ancestry? They say that the nature of his disability was shell shock.
He was in France from 20.1.17, diagnosed with shell shock in June and returned to England in August.
If you want to find out more after reading the pension documents you could search for the war diaries.

Also because Ancestry's indexing is a bit shaky, you sometimes have to wind backwards as well as forwards from the indexed page.
