Default Schoolmistress in Bletchingdon, Oxon 1841.

    Hi

My 5xgreat grandmother was Hannah Woodcock, nee Robins c1780-1846.

She wed Thomas Woodcock in St Mary Magdalen Oxford City in November 1800. They then moved to Bletchingdon where Thomas originated.

In 1841 Hannah says that she was not born in Oxfordshire, but she died before 1851 and I would like to try to find the right baptism if I can, and maybe even school records as in 1841 she says that she is a schoolmistress.

What are the chances of finding any as I know a lot of strays moved to Oxford to study from other parts of England but how could I go about finding any records at all?

    Thanks

    Ben

Anything in the marriage register that helps? Did she marry by licence? Who were the witnesses? Do the witnesses names appear in several entries or just this one? Any ROBINS entries in census returns in Oxford and if so are any birthplaces indicated?

and maybe even school records as in 1841 she says that she is a schoolmistress.
You may need to try either the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies
or Oxfordshire Record Office to see if school records survive and have been deposited with them.
