    Default NUNN & TATT

I am descended from a Nunn and Tatt in Sturmer, Suffolk. My genes say I am Jewish or at least semetic through the maternal line. I have often been asked if I am Jewish or told that I look Jewish. I would love to know how far this goes back. Genes have been traced from Germany and Sardinia.

Smile Sarah Tatt b. 1760 Sturmer

    Hi,

I'm Dottos daughter.. Just to add to the post. We could not find Sarahs Baptism in the Essex records. She was born 1762 in Sturmer/Essex but this is right on the Suffolk/Essex border so I'm wondering if the Baptism is in the Suffolk records house under Haverhill? Not sure really.. I'm desperate to find her Baptism as her parents names will be on there.

If anyone can search in the Suffolk records I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks

    Default Baptism

What are the chances of her not being baptised?

In the IGI there is a Sarah Tatt with a vague reference to
Kedington, Suffolk, about 2 miles from Sturmer. Have you checked the Parish Record there?
The LDS have films of Kedington records, as do they for Haverhill, if there is one of their Family History Centres near you.

    Default LDS records

    That's her Michael.
I'm on the outskirts of South London and we made a trip all the way to Chelmsford. It was a very long journey across town and found nothing. She's in the LDS records but Sturmer is listed as Essex but in her other record it says Kedington. So I suspect we'd have more luck finding her in the Suffolk records in Bury St Edmunds. Not sure if there is an LDS centre near us. I didn't knwo they existed. I'll have a look..

    Thanks Michael.

    Hi there

    On the offchance....

I have some Nunns in the family marrying into my line in the 1860s in London. Hannah Curtis / William Nunn.

Anyway I have a very old photograph handed down to me by my Nan and she told me it was of someone called (phonetically) crewjar (kruger?) Nunn. She knew no more

Just wondering if it might be a foreign or jewish name and you might know the correct spelling.

    Regards

    Russell

Kedington was once in two counties and the essex part bordered on Sturmer..
