Hello all,
I have a death certificate for my ancestor who died of TB in 1838. She died at "the Infirmary" in Bristol. I've tried googling this but am unsure if the hospitals listed are mine. Would anyone have any knowledge as to what the "the Infirmary" was and if it is still around today?
Thank you.
P.S. I've been getting messages of "database errors" on this site all evening. Did anyone else have any problems?

The place to check for hospital records is here:
https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/
Search for Bristol, you will find that although there are 24 hits there is only one Infirmary listed. Click that link to see what records survive and where they are held.

Hello Peter and Colin.
I think the British Royal Infirmary must be the place. I didn't know the National Archives had a hospital site. It neatly lists the hospitals in each city. Much better than trawling through miscellaneous websites as I had been doing! I will contact the Bristol Record Office to see what info I can obtain. It appears admissions/discharge records may exist for 1838.
Thank you for your help.
