    Default Quiz for the Newbies!!!

    This is a quiz especially for the Newbies out there. Not necessarily new to Brit-Gen, but those of you who are just starting out on your journey into the past.

    The prize is the book "Introducing Family History", donated by the Family History Partnership. Scroll down to about halfway for further details.

    The prize is a fantastic resource for those of you who are still feeling your way around what to do, where to look and how to do it.

    Closing date is Midnight on Sunday 11 May (BST) Please PM me your answers by that date and time.


    Some of the questions are easy, others may be a little harder. But hopefully you may learn something new along the way.

    8.What are MIs?
    9.Who sponsors British-Genealogy.com?
    10.What would be the occupation of a Maltster?
    11.What is referred to, in England and Wales, by the initials GRO?
    12.What is another name for a “House of Industry”?
    13.A common cause of death used to be Consumption. By what name is this now better known?
    14.What are Bishops Transcripts?
    15.Where in London may you obtain copies of wills from 1858?
