Does anyone know any history of the Cedars Inn in Binsted?
In my research one of my ancestors was landlord there, and his daughter was a barmaid. James Buttle b.1814 d 1891 in Bisted.
I would like to know if pos. how long he was a publican.
Any info gratefully received
Helen

Well, it's still there:
The Cedars
The Street, Binsted
Alton, Hampshire
GU34 4PB
I would suggest that you either give them a ring or, better still, drop them a line, asking the name of the brewery to which they are affiliated. Then contact the brewery archives. The archives will also be able to tell you if they've always had the pub associated to them or if it was a different brewery at any time.
Hope this helps,

No Tania, the James I have traced forward is James that married Sarah & then Ellen and had Harriet, who is on the 1891 census as a barmaid
