Seeking SYRETTS from Suffolk

Hi, my name is Rob and I am new to this forum. I am looking to find out where Moses Syrett originates from. He married Susan Mallam and lived in Huntingfield in Suffolk. He was born in 1804 approx and moved to Cratfield after he married. He had quite a large family including Betsey, Martha, Moses and Robert. Is there anybody out there who knows of this family?Living in hope....Rob

According to the 1851 census he was born in Huntingfield.

Thank you Sue. It was probably a badly worded question as I knew that he was born in Huntingfield. But I am wondering where the family came from pre Moses as I cannot trace any Syretts in Huntingfield or Cratfield before he was born.Rob.

Well, looking at Syrett (var) marriages on Boyds index. Villages where they take place in Suffolk are Fressingfield, Fornham All Saints, Clare, Bury St. Edmunds, Hepworth, Letheringham, and Sibton.
This may give you some parishes where you could look.
I take it you have Moses baptism.

Thanks again, that gives me something else to work on. No I haven't got his baptism, and the problem is that I will need to make a trip to the Suffolk Records Office, probably next year, or if I'm lucky, this autumn, buts it's a good excuse to visit this beautiful corner of England!

I visited Suffolk Record Office today and this is what I found for you.

All baptisms in Huntingfield.

SIRET
Moses = 24th April, 1803

Mary = 7th February, 1802

James = 30th June, 1805

Sarah = 17th May, 1807

all children of John Siret and Jemima

Jemima Eastaugh - single woman

both of the parish.

20th November, 1801 = by banns

both made their mark.
