1891 look up please

Hi,
Can someone please see if they can find Sarah Vaxman/Waxman on the 1891 census. She was born 1870 in Ramsgate, Kent. I suspect she would be in London as she married Marks Waxman there in 1888, but I'm not certain. Her husband may have died before 1891 as she was living with (but not married to) William Edler in Shoreditch by 1901. So Sarah may be a widow in 1891 and may be listed under her maiden name, Silverstone.

Sarah Waxman age 19 born abt 1872 in Ramsgate is registered as a daughter in law. She is living in Mile End Old Town with the Strauss family and Marks Waxman.

P.S. Marks is a son-in-law and they are all Fur Dressers

Hi,
Mutley this is fantastic! There has always been a family story that Sarah married a cousin of Richard Strauss, and although I doubt that's the case it's great to see that there is some truth in it. Would you mind sending the complete entry please? I don't have access to the census and now I want all the juicy details.

Hi,
Cheers Mutley, I was just going through the 1881 to get places of birth! Interesting that Joseph Strauss was born in Ramsgate as well. Sarah's family were in London, then Ramsgate before moving back to London. I wonder if the families knew each other in Ramsgate?
Oh well, you get some answers and then you get more questions. That's the joy/frustration of research. Can't work out why Sarah and Marks are both in-laws though.

I can only assume that as Abraham is the head of the household then Marks would be his son in law, that would make Rachel (Abraham's wife) his mother.

If Rachel is his mother and his name is Waxman then her maiden name should also be Waxman (assuming she had not married in between!!).

There are quite a few Waxman's born Poland in this area in the following census and I would think they are all probably related one way or another.

If you can access a site that gives you an index and you want the full details of any of them, then please ask, I don't mind looking but as there are so many I am not sure exactly who you are mainly interested in and what you have missing from your information. Also if you would want more Strauss details.
