Hello and welcome to the B-G forums.
There may be some record in a newspaper of a wedding, but your best hpe of finding information which will further your research is to obtain a copy of the marriage certificate.
A marriage certificate will include:
Date and place married, whether by banns or licence.
Groom and bride's names, ages, marital statut, address, fathers' names and occupations.
Whether groom and bride signed or made a mark.
Witnesses signatures or their names and marks.
Try searching freebmd to see if the marriage is included there. Double check any entry you find against the original GRO index. A scan of he original image may be available on freebmd.
If you find an entry, copies of certificates can be ordered from the General Register Office GRO

In addition to what Geoffers has stated, you could also search (and find AND order) on the lancashirebmd site. Is there a possibility that it was a Roman Catholic marriage? If so, it may be possible to view films of the PRs at Manchester Central Library. See the link below for records for all C on M church records held at MCL.

Of course it may well have been a civil marriage.
