The Ralston family had a photographic business in Gasgow.
I am interested to know when William joined the company and did he once live in Manchester.
Thank you.

William Ralston
I have found William Ralston on the 1881 census living in Rusholme.
He is listed as 32 years of age, born in Glasgow and was a lodger at the address.
He was a lithographic printer at the time.
Thanks

There is a William Ralston who was the step son of Elizabeth Ferguson. He was born in Glasgow in abt.1849, age is 22. The address is 92 Broomielaw and he was a stationer. The head of the household was Robert Ferguson a Book Binder. The original image is not displayed in Ancestry.
Parish: Glasgow St Peter; ED: 37; Line: 1

William is 32 and still unmarried. His occupation is a Commercial Traveller (Lithographic Printing). As a Commercial traveller it would explain why he was a border, maybe he went around the country selling printing items.

Although there are several William Ralstons living in Manchester I cannot see one that was born in Glasgow.
It is aways possible that he lived there in the 10 year period between the census.
