Default Uncle Frank in the RAF

Re: Frank POTTER born Birmingham c1913.
I am trying to trace the activities of my late uncle who served in the RAF during World War 2 – and possibly until 1952. Sadly, I have very few details – no service number nor the name or location of his unit. According to family records, he was a ‘liaison officer’ on Churchill’s staff during WW2 – which may complicate matters if his activities were considered to be classified. My late father had told my sister that he (Frank) had died in Australia of cancer in the 1990’s which means that my sister and I are the last of our line – and I guess, the next of kin for this purpose (or is it?). If I could obtain a copy of his service record, would it contain any details of family? or just, when and where he served?

"Ex-servicemen and next-of-kin may obtain brief details by writing to: PMA (CS) 2a(2), RAF Innsworth, Gloucester GL3 1EZ. "

You may need to provide proof of death.
