Default Looking for William Sime 1841 Census

    Hello

Can anyone help with finding William Sime, born abt. 1816, in the 1841 census. Having found him on the index of Ancestry (.co.uk) with his family at Blairgowrie I searched for him on the Scotlands People website and despite putting in all variations of his surname, including soundex, I can't find him. In fact all the people on the same page as him on the index can't be found either. If anyone happens to have access to the Blairgowrie (parish no. 338) 1841 census I'd be most greatful.

    Many thanks

    Geoff,

The following looks like a likely match:

    Census: 1841: Parish Number 338 Ed 2 Pages 1, 2
    Address: Cothie, Blairgowrie, Perthshire
-- Billy SIMA [sic] [Female] 55 Perthshire

    -- Isabel SIME 30 Perthshire
    -- James SIME 30 Perthshire Linen H L W [occupation]
    -- William SIME 25 Perthshire Linen H L W
-- Joseph PALUTON [sic] 8 Perthshire Ag Lab
Address: Sura of Paltary Crachin, Blairgowrie, Perthshire
-- John PATERSON 40 Perthshire Labor
-- Christian PATERSON [Female] 20 Perthshire

    -- Charles PATERSON 15 Perthshire
    -- Barbara PATERSON 12 Perthshire
-- Christian PATERSON [Female] 10 Perthshire
    -- William PATERSON 5 Perthshire
    -- Margaret PATERSON 3 Perthshire

Unfortunately, I can only view a transcription of the census not the image itself so I can't check into why the two families are listed as all in the same household even though they have different addresses.

    HTH,
    Trish

    Hello Trish

I've seen this information on Ancestry but as they don't show the actual census I went to Scotlands People. I couldn't find them during my searches of the 1841 census. I've a sneaking suspicion that they may be at Cargill as they were there in 1851.

    Thanks for your reply anyway.
    Geoff
