    Default gervas shelton

    Dear Badger64,
Thanks for the very interesting information. I didn't spot that anyone had replied otherwise I would have replied earlier.
Gervas was my mothers fathers, fathers, fathers father! We are descended from Gervas's son James. How are you related?
Where did you get the information? I got someone to look in the QS records and they came back with this:

Gervas Shelton 6th June (1840) Convicting Magistrates
Thomas Webb Edge & Charles Pagis Esquires Offence : Assault.

    regards,
    Matt

    Default gervas shelton

    hi matt
Ifound that gervas was in the county gaol off the 1841 census and then looked up the nottingham assizes record at the notts archives.
Gervas was a ggg grandfather of mine and his daughter married Birkett Turgoose. My mothers maiden name was turgoose. So it looks like that we are
    distant cousins.
    regards
    John

Gervas's daughter that married Birkett Turgoose was named Elizabeth and at the 1841 census when gervas wasin gaol the family were living at Lambley,Notts. Birkett and Elizabeth lived to ripe old ages and are buried in
    Carlton Cemetery.
